Bride-to-be... not really!

Hello friends,

I hope you are having a lovely, crafty weekend!
The May 2018 Altenew release is amazing - I totally fell in love with the Bride-to be set even though I have been married for 34 years I absolutely needed this very versatile set, it is gorgeous!

I started my card by stamping the largest flower from the set several times in shades from the Cherry Blossom collection of Altenew crisp inks; Rubellite, Razzleberry, Pinkalicious, Pink Diamond. I also stamped some of the smaller flowers adding details in Teal Cave, Galactic Stream and Maple Yellow  (Don't you just love the names of the Altenew inks?!) and the centers in black. These were all cut out with coordinating dies.

I didn't use all of the flowers, nor the ink blended background in this pic above, I loved the pink and teal together but it was a bit dark, I wanted something brighter. These will be used in a another project, I see many more cards coming - versatile set, right?!

So the background was ink blended in Fresh Lemon from the Pocketful of Sunshine collection through the Grid Stencil onto 80 pound Neenah solar white card stock. I made sure to leave some white space, making it not so even, to make it a more interesting background.

I mounted this background onto yellow fun foam and die cut the leaves from the Floral Elements die from the back side of the card - TIP - I do this from the back so that the trace of the die on the paper is less visible.

Then I arranged the flowers on top and glued the panel down to a teal card base that then become leaves for the flowers, so fun!

Since I used the foam layer, there is some added dimension but his card can still easily be sent through the mail with no extra charge. I think the extra layer makes it quite striking.

I decided not to add a sentiment as I am not sure who the recipient of this card is and for what occasion. In fact I'm OK on not having a sentiment on the front of the card at all.

I have been doing several classes in the Altenew Academy, and have learned a lot, lately about using Altenew Crisp inks for ink blending techniques - they work really well and I encourage you to try them out!
