Making signs

Last year I made a couple of signs that can be used as bedroom door signs or home decor projects, just hanging on a wall.

Today I have another sign for you, it's a made to measure order for Amelia who is someone very, very lovely and special to me and is 5 and a half years old.

Amelia wanted birds and she wanted pink and blue and preferably something from Frozen - I did my best...

First I stamped out the birds in several colors of Altenew Crisp dye inks. The Birds and the branches are all from Birds of a Feather stamp set from Altenew. See another project using this set here at #Love.

This green bird was stamped in Mountain Mist, Volcano Lake, Lagoon and Emerald. To make the birds dimensional I used two ink colors on the head and the back so there is like a variation in the color, easily done with a dauber.

The blue bird was stamped in Iceberg, Ultramarine and Azurite. The feet, beaks and eyes were stamped in Jet Black on all the birds.
Branches were die cut and then covered in Versamark ink and gold embossed.

The pink bird was stamped in Pink Diamond for the body, Rubellite and a hint of Razzleberry for the wing and Silver Lake for the neck and tail feathers with a bit of added Charcoal Suit.

For each bird and branch I die cut the shape three times and glued them together to form a sturdy piece of cardboard. Then I added some Glossy Accents to make the eyes lifelike.

I then die cut the letters using the Bold Alphabet die, stacked them four high and smeared Pinkalicious ink all over. After they dried I smeared Versamark ink over the bottom of the letters and gold embossed.

For the background I definitely needed something frozen so I decided to use a birch forest stencil from TCW - The Craft Workshop, lightly sponging Iceberg and Mountain Mist inks through the openings. Then to make it a little more wintry, I added snowflakes cut with the Wintry Edge die from Concord & 9th.

I love that you can make the sign in any style, just use whatever you have in your stash! Please tag me if you make a sign, I would love to see what I inspire you to make.
