Altenew Build-A-Flower: Indian Lotus Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

I have 3 cards to show you today in celebration of Altenew's BaF Indian Lotus release.

A new Build-A-Flower is out, the beautiful Indian Lotus, and I am happy to be part of this release blog hop! You should have come from Verity's blog and as I am the last person on this hop, I am sure you have seen some lovely projects on your way here! 

When I think of lotus flowers I think huge, pink blooms but I decided I was having blue flowers for my first card.

I used Eastern Sky and Ultramarine Crisp Inks for all the stamping, using only the outline and the second detail layer of the stamp set. I love the textured look this gives!

I used several of the uplifting small sentiments to stamp stems for the lotuses, then combined the two words Be and You for a main sentiment.

My second and third cards are similar, using  a faux watercolor technique to color the bloom.

To make a card like this you need to use watercolor cards stock and a solid stamp, the solid BaF Lotus base layer works perfectly. 

Ink up the stamp with several dye inks, I used Altenew Crisp Inks in Pinkalicious, Eastern Sky, Parrot, Maple Yellow and Shadow Creek. If you have the Mini Ink Cubes use those, otherwise just be a little careful as you add the ink so as not to cross contaminate your ink pads.

Then mist fairly generously with water, dry off the acrylic bloc so as not to make a huge mess and then stamp down, pressing fairly well. 

Important - do not lift up the stamp immediately, let the ink soak into the paper a bit like in the photograph below.

Let air dry or heat set until dry if you are impatient like me!

Once dry, I added the outline stamp in Jet Black Crisp Ink and stamped a "wannabe" stem using my favorite sentiment of the set "Fearlessly Authentic" in Parrot ink. The finished image was trimmed down to approximately 4 by 4 inches and glued on to a bright green card base.

I love how colorful this card turned out. 

The final card is a variation using lighter Altenew Crisp Inks for the flower; Limeade, Mango Smoothie, Mountain Mist, Pink Diamond and Sunkissed. I also used the less textured side of the watercolor paper.

The outline was stamped in Jet Black and the stem was hand drawn using a Molotow Blackliner pen in 0.3 mm. This time I repeatedly stamped the sentiment along the bottom.

Again the image was trimmed to about 4x4 inches and mounted on the - oh so beautiful - Pale Gray card stock from Altenew.
