A spring birthday card
I need a lot of birthdays cards in May and June so I have been making one today for my first post in level 3 of the AECP, the Altenew Educator Program. Click the link to learn more about this program and you might just be inspired to join!
I have been thoroughly enjoying Laurel Beard's new class "Stenciled Multiple Ways", in Altenew Academy. Laurel used Altenew's new embossing paste in one of her lessons which inspired me to make this card.
To start my card, first I stamped out and die cut some flowers and stems/leaves from the Wildflower Garden set.
Then I die cut the same images from contact paper, I also cut out a negative circle mask from the same contact paper. I used the circle to mask off a circle shape on my light grey card stock, then I placed the flower and stem masks inside that circle.
When I was happy with the arrangement I taped down my Grid Stencil on the diagonal on top of everything else.
Then I evenly spread my white embossing paste on top, when I was done I carefully lifted the stencil and my masks off of the paper to reveal the result that I then left to dry:
I was surprised how easily everything came up with no trouble and I was able to recoup all that embossing paste and put it back into my jar.
It's very important to clean off your stencil and tools so that any remaining paste does not dry on there! Wash them under running water.
After the embossing paste had dried I was able to add in my flowers and stems into the gaps, they fit perfectly in the openings left by my mask.
I finally didn't like the placement on my grey card stock so I used a slightly larger circle die to cut the whole element out and glued it down on to a white card base.
The last thing needed to complete my card was a birthday greeting that I got from the Trigonometry set.
I have decided to enter this card into the May 2019 Inspiration Challenge, Aga has a pretty photograph of a flower against a textured wall so I thought this card fit that description quite well.
