Altenew: A Year In Review Blog Hop + Giveaway

I had a really hard time choosing my favorite four projects but here we are: tadaaa!

If you remember these cards you may have been here before; welcome back for another fun Altenew blog hop and a chance to win, read on to learn more.

All these are rather CAS but that is what I love. And all sent or given to people I love because that is why I make cards...

You should have hopped here from Fiona's blog Channeling Martha. If not please start at the Altenew card blog to see the work of all the talented designers. For your next stop with Ishani, read on!

But since you are here let's start with the Build-A-Flower Indian Lotus. This large bloom comes with layering stamps for color but I chose to color using a faux watercolor technique. Read all about how to make a card using this fun technique and learn how to use sentiment strips in fun and different ways in this blogpost.

This card was sent to my lovely daughter in France who I think is just that - fearlessly authentic!

The second card uses a gorgeous 3D embossing folder called Banana Leaves and a technique where you ink up the folder itself before running it through the die cut machine.

I really like hiding the sentiments on my cards, or adding them in unexpected places - then again sometimes I forego a sentiment altogether. What I am saying is that you have to go with what pleases your eye and what will please the recipient. Some US friends received this card from me.

Card number three is another card from the Exotic Garden release back in May, using two sets; the wonderful Painted Rainbow and the oh so fun sentiment set Carpe Diem.
Read more about both these cards in Altenew Exotic Garden Release Hop

I gave this card to a friend who had a horrible biking accident here in Berlin back in June and faced a lot of hard rehab work getting back on her feet. I am happy to report that she is and every time I go to see her I also see this card displayed in her house which makes me so happy :)

The final card also using a 3D Embossing folder; this one is called Buffalo Plaid. I stamped the gorgeous Bold Floral Drape in two Altenew dye ink colors before embossing - I love this effect; big impact.
Then I stamped sentiments from Label Love and added on top. Read more about it in the Altenew Classic Imagery Collection release blog post.

The card was given along with a wedding gift to an Australian/UK couple in London. The card makes for a non traditional wedding card but like many Covid weddings this one was held in multiple stages and venues both in time and geographically so this seemed fitting.

Altenew has generously offered me a $10 gift certificate to give away to someone who comments on this post. The winner will be announced on this blog post on January 8, 2022.
For a chance to win, please tell me in your comment who you would send your favorite card to!

Altenew is also giving away a $30 gift certificate to 5 lucky winners and a $15 gift certificate to 4 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card blog or share Altenew projects with #AltenewBest2021 on social media by January 6, 2022 for a chance to win. 9 winners will be announced on the Altenew Winners Page on January 8, 2022.

Now it's time for you to hop along to Ishani at Quillish, you can be sure she has some lovely cards to show you!

  1. I love the variety and multiple collections of colors choices on each card. I also enjoyed how you shared who you gave each card to. After all, that is why most of us love this craft. It gives us the joy of creating and the joy of making another person happy. To answer your question of who I would give a card to, I would say, to the person who needed it the most. That is why when I make cards, I usually make them in multiples of 100 or more. This year I made Thanksgiving cards and Christmas cards for everyone in my community who receives Meals on Wheels. Earlier in the year, I made cards for all the First Responders, Doctors and Nurses in town.

  2. Beautiful designs! I LOVE the rainbow one!

  3. love the 'don't quit' card, like the way you painted on the colors. would love to see a video on exactly how you got the colors to look splashed on the left side. I like you added the dot on the right and the rainbow color combo used
