Cherry blossom

Today I have a cherry blossom / spring / Easter card to show you.

Early April is a special time in the DC area as the annual cherry blossom festival takes place along the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial. I love the cherry trees and am fortunate enough to live very close by in Northern Virginia - a short bike ride away across the 14th street bridge.

This is my inspiration for the card.

I used a couple of fall themed stamp sets from Hero Arts, one is a tree that has several layers of leaves to stamp in different fall colors but it works very well as a flowering spring tree too! The other set came out last fall and I used only one of the rabbit images from that set.

On pale bue card stock, stamp the tree trunk in Gray Denim from Altenew, then add a layer of Rubellite "flowers", over stamp the other leaf layers in Hero Arts Unicorn white ink to achieve a cloudy pink/white effect simulating the cherry blossom.

Stamp the grass to anchor the tree to the ground, then stamp a sentiment - my "Spring is in the air" is a wood mounted one from Rosie's Roadshow - and add the rabbit, both in the same Gray Denim ink.

Add a spring green mat and glue down to a white card base.

Read more about the cherry blossom festival and see another card I made not long ago in this blogpost; Hanami - flower watching.

I am entering this card in CAS on Friday Challenge #155 Spring

Hugs,
Helen
