Altenew Educators "Alphabet Name Game" Blog Hop and Linky Party + Giveaway

 Hello Friends,

Today we are playing the Alphabet Name Game - the first letter of my name is H for Helen and for... Heat Embossing, so that is the technique I am focusing on in this post!

I decided to make autumn cards for this October blog post and used a couple of older favorite stamp sets to create heat embossed backgrounds and fall arrangements. For the backgrounds I used Pattern Power on two of the cards and Dot Botanicals for the grape card. The juicy looking fruit images are from the Simple Fruits and the Simple Flowers sets!

For the very subtle background: From Neenah 110 lb card stock, cut an A2 card base and score the middle. Repeatedly stamp a pattern in clear embossing ink, sprinkle on clear embossing powder and heat set until smooth and shiny.

For the fruit, on a separate piece of Neenah 80 lb card stock, stamp several pieces of fruit using two ink colors for each fruit to create a gradation of color. Using a stamp positioner like the MISTI makes this easy: stamp a first time in the lightest ink color, next carefully tap the darker ink color on the edges of the fruit and stamp again, lastly re-stamp using the lightest color.

I used my treasured Altenew Crisp Inks for this, colors listed below:
Pomegranate - Ruby Red and Hydrangea
Apple - Butternut, Coral Berry and Forest Glade for the leaves
Pear - Olive, Moss and Espresso for the stem
Orange - Mango Smoothie and Orange Cream
Blueberries - Wisteria, Andromeda and Forest Glade - these berries are from the Simple Flowers set.

I then fussy cut all the fruits and arranged them on my card, gluing them down flat to avoid creating bulk, however if you love dimension on your cards, by all means pop the fruits up with dimensional tape!

I had also stamped out the grapes - using Wisteria, Andromeda and Espresso inks - but they seemed to be the wrong scale for my wreath so I decided to make a separate card using them

You can see the background detail on this close up; heat embossed Dot Botanicals. All the sentiments were stamped directly on the cards in Altenew Crisp inks and then over stamped in clear embossing ink and covered in clear embossing powder.

I made a second version of the first card using another pattern for the background and this time I stamped the sentiment on a strip and dipped the whole thing in embossing ink and again heat embossed in clear powder.
